World Folkdance Festival
From: 2014.04.26 To: 2014.04.30
What joins Japanese, English and Hungarian folk dancing? Wonderfully bizarre costumes for sure, but also the World Folkdance Festival, held every year in Palma de Mallorca. Since its humble beginnings 1987, the event has gathered participants from all parts of the world, who have travelled to perform their traditional dances. From the delicate movements of the Oriental Bharata Natya to Zulu war dances, from the spirited Gopak of Central Europe to the gentle swaying follow-my-leader Farandole, the differences between the cultures have combined to provide a kaleidoscope of wonder. Whether in simple performance or as part of the international competition, the skill of the dancers and musicians conspire to bring tradition alive.
