What do you do if you can’t go fishing because of bad weather? You play conkers! This is what a group of locals drinking in a pub decided to do back in 1965. Little did they know that it would turn into a World Championship with more than 500 people from 13 nations taking part in it, including Australia, New Zealand, Ukraine, Poland, France and Austria. The competition is divided into three divisions: men, women and teams. Ashton Conker Club provides the participants with horse chestnuts, which are carefully selected and a string is attached to each of them. The point of the game is to swing it till you break the opponent’s conker. The event is used to fund-raise for different charities. Over 250,000 pounds have been raised since the creation of the championships. You can use this event to contribute to a good cause as well as to have a great time.
