Description

Europe is the home of the Slow Food Movement, but something tells us these service professionals are not honorary members. Held in the enormous Parc du Cinquantenaire, or Jubilee Park this two-day event fills the park with food markets, bands, and wine tasting kiosks. However the real showstopper is the torch-lit waiter race, where apron-wearing waiters run neck in neck with each other with a bottle of Pineau des Charentes liquor and three full glasses hoisted high on a tray. The first cross the finish line with the drinks intact wins a cash prize and the Trophée Vétéran. The race is only open to professionals, however if you are considering a career, a win in the amateurs race might win you a spot on the staff of one of the top local gourmet restaurants.
