From: 2015.01.05 To: 2015.01.05
Vienna is a city equally famous for its formal balls and its illustrious music tradition. Therefore, you can’t go wrong with the Vienna Opera Ball held in the grandiose National Opera building. This event is the climactic finale to the Vienna ball season. In 1935, the first official “Opernball” or Vienna Opera Ball was organised. It was a successful event and was continued in following years. After WWII, the first Opera Ball was held in 1956 and became an annual event with 1991 as the only exception due to the Gulf War. Since 2001 Elisabeth Gürtler has been the chairlady of the Vienna Opera Ball. Over the years the ball has gained in international status. It has become an influential national event under the protection of the Austrian President. The dress code is evening dress: white tie and tails for men; floor-length ball gowns for women. Step back in into the elegance of times past and waltz the night away.
