Description

The 40th edition of the UEFA Cup competition returns with a new name. 53 UEFA associations’ 192 teams will contest for the title. The defending club is the Ukranian Shakhtar Donetsk, who beat German Werder Bremen in the final of the previous season. The final of the first season of the UEFA Europa League will be played in the HSH Nordbank Arena, Germany, opened in 2000. The Hamburg Arena hosted matches for the 2006 FIFA World Cup as well, including the quarter final between Italy and Ukraine.
