Turner Prize Exhibition
From: 2013.10.05 To: 2014.01.03
Unmade beds and pickled cows. What would Turner think? Probably, “wow, I wish I'd thought of that, to think people got excited about my seascapes.” Or maybe he'd feel sorry for the cow. In any case, he'd most certainly want to visit the Tate Britain, where all of the shortlisted events artists' works are on display. Set up in 1984 to award the best British talent in modern art, past winners have included Antony Gormley, Damien Hirst, Tracey Emin, Richard Wright and Mark Wallinger. This exhibition never fails to upset the moral majority and without fail the British tabloids bite the bait and rush to the defence of all that is proper and decent in the world like 'normal art', predictably moaning that 'this is not art'. Is it art? Judge for yourself this year.
