The Sack of Saint AugustineDetailsLocation:United States - Saint Augustine Date:From: 2014.03.05 To: 2014.03.06 Category:Tags:Official website:DescriptionSaint Augustine’s history as the oldest city in the United States started with the settling of the Spanish. Soon this strategic coastal fort became a fighting ground between the English and the Spanish. In 1668, Captain Robert Searl and his privateers invaded the Spanish stronghold and pillaged the town in their search for Spanish gold. So shocked was the Spanish Crown, they promised permanent funding to the broken settlement, including the Castillo De San Marcos that still stands in the city to this day. Join local and visitor alike in this recreation of the sacking of the city. Watch weaponry demonstrations, sample food from the period and take a tour of the old city that rose from the ashes and epitomized the glory of the Spanish Empire in North America. Main album
