Tewkesbury Medieval Festival
From: 2013.07.14 To: 2013.07.15
Do you ever wonder what it would be like to go back in time to the medieval period? The Tewkesbury Medieval Festival is probably the closest you will ever get to making this a reality. The first event took place in 1984 and apparently it was dedicated to commemorate the Battle of Tewkesbury, which happened in 1471 between the houses of York - The White Rose - and Lancaster - the Red Rose and was the final battle of the Wars of the Roses. Especially for this festival a working castle, complete with turrets, defendable gate, siege tower and catapult has been built. More than 2000 re-enactors from all over Europe take part in the re-creation of that historically significant battle, which makes this festival an amazing event and one of the most famous of its kind.
