Tampere International Short Film Festival
From: 2014.03.07 To: 2014.03.11
Tampere International Short Film Festival evolved from a cinema event held in late ‘60s called Tampere Short Film Days. The idea belonged to a man called Ilkka Kalliomäki, a film aficionado, who wished to organize an event dedicated entirely to films in his home of Tampere. This festival is the oldest of this kind of events in the Nordic countries. It has a national and an international competition part. It offers the opportunity for many young talents to show themselves to public. All kinds of films are accepted, regardless of the subject they are treating. The only criterion is that the productions aren’t allowed to exceed 30 minutes of length. The jury is international, but one of them always has to be from Finland. This is a way of emphasizing the national aspect of this project. It attracts hundreds of young people each year and, although, the festival has already passed his 30th birthday, his popularity is still increasing rapidly.
