Gayness abounds at the biggest gay and lesbian event in the world, the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras. In fact it's bigness that abounds, as it's the biggest annual event in sunny Australia. Like all proper carnivals, it starts weeks in advance with more cultural events than you can shake your rainbow coloured stick at: visual arts, music, sporting events, literature, theatre, dance, cabaret, comedy and film. Amidst the partying is a serious political message, one that's only heightened by the cutting wit and bright colours of the main parade. The post-parade party is hotter than those boys in the picture (right) so book early if you want to be one of the lucky thousands who get a ticket.
