Stuttgart Wine Village
From: 2014.08.29 To: 2014.09.09
Stuttgart is tucked the land by green vine-covered hills, so it is no surprise that the city is host to a massive wine festival. In deed, the regions established wineries join together in this surprisingly green industrial capital to form a mini "village" near the town center and castle to best celebrate a season of sun and wine with twelve days of festival. The event draws upwards of a million who taste Germany's famous light-bodied reds and whites, which are generally lower in alcohol content than other wines (8.5-10 percent), making them particularly refreshing in warm weather. It's worth trying a regionally famous Trollinger, a light red wine low in acidity, or the Müller-Thurgau, one of the most widely-planted grapes in Germany, a cross between Riesling and Gutedel. Be sure to save a day for the Mercedes-Benz museum to see one of the other fruits of Stuttgart.
