Stratford Shakespeare Festival
From: 2013.03.15 To: 2013.10.28
Stratford Shakespeare Festival presents an extensive program of classical and modern plays and musical productions, with special emphasis on the works of the greatest writer in the English language, William Shakespeare. For seven months each year, the festival offers more than 700 performances carried out by an acting corps of around 100, on four permanent theatre stages. Founded in 1953 in Stratford, a small Canadian city chosen due to the fact that its name matched that of Shakespeare’s birthplace in England, the festival is nowadays one of the most prominent arts festivals in Canada, attracting over 500,000 visitors annually. Besides Shakespeare’s masterpieces, the festival features productions of other classical and contemporary dramatic works. Don’t miss the chance to see some of the finest actors in the world excel in Macbeth, As You Like It, Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, and a wide variety of plays ranging from Greek tragedy to contemporary works.
