Gay Pride, a celebration of freedom of sexuality and choice, has the largest Scandinavian turnout in Stockholm. Since 1998, the Swedish capital has hosted a program that includes art exhibitions, debates, films, seminars, parties, and the ubiquitous Gay Pride Parade. There have been upwards of 500,000 people from across Scandanavia coming together, taking great pride in their sexual identities, and refusing to tolerate discrimination or oppression. And no better place to do it, Tantolunden is a part of the trendy Södermalm district. There a brightly lit park hosts performances in the afternoons and evenings, and the area has plenty of funky restaurants, café's and boutiques donning rainbows in their windows.
