Vulcan, nestled in the prairies of Alberta, was a small agricultural town until the Star Trek franchise inadvertently put it on the map as a tourist attraction. Taking full advantage of the coincidence that its name is shared by Mr. Spock’s home planet, the Canadian town now boasts a huge replica Star Trek Enterprise as well as the spacecraft-shaped Vulcan Tourism and Trek Station. The latter serves as the headquarters for the annual Spock Days/ Galaxyfest, a weekend filled with out-of-this-world fun, from costume and stunt contests to Star Trek celebrity appearances. It's worth the trek, we say!
