Description

Whilst snakes terrify some, for others they make good pets. Especially the slippery lot that take part in the Snake Handlers Procession in Cocullo. This festival occurs in celebration of St. Dominic, with his statue carried across the town along with handfuls of slithering snakes. The snakes symbolise evil, something which we must all face up to in our lives. This ritual is held every year at noon on the dot, with other cultural and religious programs before and after the procession.
