Christians from all over the country come to the capital to join the Silent Procession. It was first organized in 1881 - a time when Catholic faith was being restored. The idea came from a smaller group of friends and soon became an important tradition. The special characteristic of this procession is that it’s done in silence without any loud prayer or singing. Participants first take part in a mass held at one of the parish churches of the city before beginning their procession. There is an overwhellming sense of inner peace that comes from walking in silence with fellow believers.
