Description

Gioachino Rossini was known as the "Italian Mozart" having composed numerous operas, sacred music, chamber music, songs, and some instrumental and piano pieces. The Rossini Opera Festival honors his life work with annual performances of his most famous works, as well as revivals of his lesser known masterpieces. When Rossini died he left his considerable fortune to his hometown of Pesaro used for the creation of the Conservatory of Music and the Foundation that bear his name today. The Conservatory and Foundation has been instrumental in furthering Rossini's legacy.
