Description
Thanks to the Roman Empire, we have Christianity in Europe. Or something like this. So come to Rome’s greatest and most popular square, Piazza Navona, as it hosts the capital’s biggest Christmas market every year. Due to its rich cultural history, three splendid fountains and the famous Roman architecture of the surrounding areas, the market square makes an excellent setting for the celebrations. Purchase all the festive items at the former Stadium of Dominitian! Stands sell terracotta figures, toys and other gifts, as well as seasonal sweets such as biscotti, chestnut, sugared apples, the famous torrone (nougat with almond and honey), panettone (traditional Italian cake), delicious liquors and a lot more. Kids can take pictures with “Babbo Natale” (Santa), and, if behaved well, can also receive presents from his rival, “Befana”, the good witch, or black coal (usually still in a shape of candy), onions or garlic, if they misbehaved…
