Are you after something unusual? Well, the Annual Rise of the Balolo in Samoa is likely to set off your bizarro-meter. In the last quarter of the moon in October and November, the islanders sail out before dawn to scoop wriggling seaworms, a local delicacy, from the water when the poor creatures unsuspectingly rise to the surface in order to mate. The rising of the worms is a natural almanac, which only occurs twice a year – apparently, it's never failed to happen for over a century! If you represent the braver among us, this is also your chance to tickle your tastebuds with the caviar of the Pacific.
