Logroño goes all out to celebrate its Rioja Wine Harvest Festival during these joyful days, known traditionally as the San Mateo Fiestas. The town fills with colour, activity and fun in a celebration where wine and the grape play a starring role. Among the numerous activities, special attention should be drawn to the traditional foot-crushing of grapes and the offering of the first must to the Virgen de Valvanera. Bullfights with young bulls, parades of floats, music, public meals and ball games complete this extraordinary festive programme.
