Description

Not for animal rights activists and ophidiophobes, the annual Rattlesnake Roundup in Sweetwater, Texas is the largest of its kind in the world. Here’s a snaky peek (ha!): every March, hordes of hunters comb the countryside to capture masses of poisonous reptiles and bring them to the Nolan County Coliseum, where the scaly creatures (there’s no pretty way of saying this) face skinning and decapitation. Watch snakes being weighed, milked, slung over shoulders or cooked into quirky dishes, pick up a useful tip or two at the snake handling demonstrations or take part in a guided hunt.
