Description

The British Navy moved into the Cayman Islands in the 17th century, to stop marauding pirates from using the little coral islands as bases. Nowadays, pirates still draw people to the islands, as they celebrate their annual Pirates Week Festival – eleven days of dancing, music, parades and, of course, pirates! People from far and wide don their cutlasses, eye patches and wooden legs to join in events ranging from races and singing competitions to celebrations of local heritage and feasts of local cuisine. ARRR!
