New Year's Eve in Vienna
From: 2013.12.31 To: 2014.01.01
On New Year's Eve each year, Vienna's old town becomes one giant nightclub, as the New Year's Path snakes through the city starting from the Town Hall. In a truly unique New Year's Eve display, unmatched by any other European city, dozens of friendly food and beverage stalls pop up along the 'path' to serve punch and culinary delights to revellers. Eleven entertainment stations provide a veritable smorgasbord of entertainment with a show program, waltzes, an operetta, rock, pop and folk music as well as a DJ line-up. There is even crash courses in the waltz provided by the Viennese dance schools, and of course the crowds flock to the Pratar at the stroke of midnight for a huge fireworks display. And if this is all a bit much and you find yourself (inevitably) over-indulging on New Year's Eve in Vienna, never fear! A morning "hangover cure" brunch outside City Hall featuring the Vienna Philharmonic New Year's Day concert on a big screen will be sure to set you right.
