Description

The Mardi Gras Festival and Parade in Montevideo is considered by many to be the national festival of Uruguay. Candombe is the traditional drumming of the Afro-Uruguayan people in Montevideo and provides the musical beat to the festival. Also unique to this Mardi Gras are Las Murgas, or small theatrical productions put on by each neighbourhood. Join in the dancing and singing and soak up the atmosphere of this unique cultural event.
