The Mangalica is a breed of pig originating in Hungary that is among the ugliest animals you will ever set eyes on. Beneath the mud-caked fur covering however, these pigs produce some of the tastiest pork in the world. Since 2007, the Mangalica festival has celebrated this tasty pork with a dedicated festival on the first weekend in February. In addition to tasting Mangalica fresh off the roasting spit, the festival features local bands and a series of programmes for children (especially if your children are particularly ugly, in which case they’ll be roasted and eaten).
