Madrid Christmas Market
From: 2013.11.28 To: 2013.12.31
More than 100 stalls occupy Madrid’s largest and most famous square, Plaza Mayor every year for the grand Christmas market. During the holiday season this tourist attraction becomes the most visited spot even for locals, looking for the special festive scene. Located in the heart of the city, and surrounded by lovely restaurants and bars, the Christmas Market dates back to 1860. Besides selling the traditional Christmas items, decorations, statues and gift materials, vendors offer unique costumes, wigs and funny accessories. Locals buy these to celebrate the Spanish Fools’ Day on 28 December. To keep the market exclusively in Christmas atmosphere, these stalls are relocated with their carnival theme to the nearby Santa Cruz square. The Christmas market is open Mon-Thu: 10am-10pm, Fri-Sun: 10am-11pm.
