Description

The first Monday in August is a bank holiday commemorating the traditional shopkeeper's summer break. Icelanders use the long weekend to escape towns and cities and head to the country for a weekend of Icelandic folk or pop music, huge bonfires and alfresco living. There are numerous events organized throughout the country this weekend, the most famous of which is a huge concert on the Westman Islands.
