Jukkasjarvi Ice Hotel
From: 2013.12.03 To: 2014.04.30
Don't sleep in or your bed could turn into a river. Okay, only if you sleep in till the sun of spring and there's little reason you'd want to do that, when you're so close to the Northern Lights and staying in the world's first and largest hotel made completely from ice. Yes, it's really true. Each December a team of artists create a unique hotel made from frozen water only to see their creation start to melt away in April. This is no barren igloo though, it's a full on top notch hotel with bar, restaurant, conference suite and chapel in which to get married and. Really! This is snow joke, the village of Jukkasjärvi really does host one of greatest hotels on earth each year over 200 km north of the Arctic Circle. The building and dismantling of the hotel are sights in themselves, never mind the Torne River and fjords of Norway further to the north. Other hotels might claim they offer you a unique and unforgettable experience, but they couldn't hold a candle to the ice hotel (nor should they, unless they want to melt the curtains).
