International Storytelling festival

It is hard to imagine a more beautiful environment than a castle for telling stories. Romantic stories, a creepy stories, a thrilling story, a funny story...you will find them all at the International Storytelling Festival set in the imposing Landcommanderij castle in the village of Alden Biesen. About 100 schools send 12.000 pupils and students to the festival. For youngsters the stories are in Dutch but older visitors can also choose between Dutch, English, French and German stories, the 4 languages Flemish schools have in their curriculum. During the the festival weekend visitors are invited on story walks, multilingual story telling evenings, aperitif sessions and a Sunday afternoon festival including street theater and music. In all it is over 200 hours of storytelling making the Alden Biesen festival into one of the largest storytelling festivals in Europe.
