Iceland Beer Day
From: 2014.03.01 To: 2014.03.01
1st of March is a special day for Icelanders. It’s the day when the world’s most popular beverage is celebrated: beer. For 75 years beer was prohibited in this country. In 1989 people could drink again freely and ever since the beginning of March is dedicated entirely to beer. Perhaps in an attempt to make up for the past years there is enormous amounts of beer consumed of all kinds; from local brands, like Egil or Viking, to international favorites. As Icelanders are one of the world’s leading beer drinkers it’s no surprise Beer Day is so popular. Celebrations are held at restaurants and pubs all around the country. “The freedom of Beer” is something worth celebrating, make sure you don’t miss it out.
