Description

On Epiphany (6 January), in the town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen not far from Munich and the airport in Memmingen, it's time for a hornschlittenrennen. You're never heard of a hornschlittenrennen? Well, it's a sad thing, because there is no better way of spending a day in Bavaria than at a hornschlittenrennen. A hornschlittenrennen is a wonderful traditional sledge race, where groups of Bavarians on wooden sledges that resemble the horns of an antelope race at speeds of up to 100 km per hour in a bid to become kings of the hornschlittenrennen. The hornschlittenrennen in Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a hornschlittenrennen that makes all other hornschlittenrennen look like a stroll in an antelope-less park, you'd have to be an antelope to want to miss it.
