Grape Harvest Festival
From: 2016.03.15 To: 2016.03.20
Every March wine-makers (and wine-drinkers) in Chile prepare for the annual grape harvest blessing. In the Curico Valley south of Santiago this celebration is best enjoyed in the small town of Curico. The festival starts with a religious ceremony blessing the first batch of pulped grapes, followed by a parade and a grape pulping competition. Teams compete to stomp 20 kilograms of grapes into as much juice as possible in ten minutes, cheered on by local crowds. At the festival you can also try local foods, see Chilean cowboys and join in traditional dancing and music. Don't forget to try the wine and join in the all night party!
