More than 100,000 people gather from all over France to celebrate THE massive party event of the year. The Granville Carnival is not only a festival, or a simple feast, but brings to your eyes and ears a long tradition of culture and French spirit that is illustrated through the multitude of artistic events celebrating the glorious regional past. The carnival was initially created to celebrate the departure of the local marine sailors towards America in the 19th century and today it keeps the tradition alive by organising various spectacular events ranging from a highly powerful opening concert on the seashore to the hardcore Mardi Gras party experience on the last day. Other events include a splendid fancy ball, confetti fights and a children's carnival.
