FIS Snowboarding World Cup: Sölden
From: 2013.10.27 To: 2013.10.28
This winter traversing the skyscraping glaciers at Sölden, Austrian's top ski resort, won't be the only way to get your adrenalin pumping. The FIS World Tour is hosting the Parallel Giant Slalom events at the resort that boasts the highest Alpine altitude, and it there are bound to be eye-popping stunts. During slalom racing, skiers go head-to-head on parallel courses. Snowboarders will be kicking up their proverbial heels and scoring big points on spins, flips and landings on a 110-meter long halfpipe. While the Big Air competition will give contestants "air," literally, since a man-made jump will launch skiers up so high they can flip and kick in the amount of time it takes some people to buckle up their boots. Nearby, watch a 200-meter snow-version of Motocross from one of the resort's thirty-four chairlifts. Thrill-seekers and wanna-bes alike will get shivers watching some of the finest examples of snow sport aerobatics. And the famous Austrian tradition of après skiing, will ensure that the stunts don't stop when the sun goes down.
