Description

To get to the heart of Bolivian culture you need to get some way off the beaten trail, and one place very much off the beaten trail is the little village of San Ignacio de Moxos, in the Amazon jungle. The normally quiet, agricultural town comes alive with processions, dancing and music, as locals dressed as traditional Amazonian warriors perform to the beat of drums and the sound of pan pipes. If you haven’t succumbed to the copious flows of alcohol that keep the festival lubricated by the time the evening rolls around, you’ll be witness to a competitive fireworks display between the two local richest families.
