ECLAT Festival of New Music
From: 2014.02.09 To: 2014.02.12
The music festival "Éclat" was founded in 1980 under the name Tage für Neue Musik Stuttgart. The themes have included music and film, contemporary music theater, music/time/space/movement, literature and music, and theatre and music. In 1997 the concept was changed: the general themes were dropped in favour of presenting diverse aspects of current artistic creativity and to provide a podium for new forms of music presentation. Éclat’s focus is increasingly on interdisciplinary art forms and on the presentation of new compositions. To reflect this broadening of scope, the name of the festival was changed to Éclat - Festival Neue Musik Stuttgart. It is Éclat’s goal to search out and introduce all of the innovative movements in contemporary music today, and to present them in connection with the great compositions of the twentieth century. Non-musical art forms, music theatre and interdisciplinary projects will continue to play central roles in the festival's itinerary. Finally, Éclat intends to serve as a forum for young artists, to support the new generation and provide it with performance opportunities
