This week long celebration is usually taken as a holiday in Mexico and coincides with school holidays or spring break. With the majority of Mexicans identifying as Catholic, Semana Santa or Easter Week is a significant religious celebration in Mexico. There is little in the way of chocolate or Easter bunnies to mark this occasion, but fireworks and fiestas go off instead! You won't find it hard to discover a festival or celebration during this important week.
