Dusseldorf Youth Culture Festival
From: 2014.09.12 To: 2014.10.03
Düsseldorf's Youth Culture Festival was founded in 1991 by a group of volunteers wishing to reconnect the city’s medieval past to contemporary culture, and has since become an international event attracting yearly over 25,000 visitors. Various locations in the Old Town - theatre and concert tents, churches, pubs and galleries, all stretched between the famous Heinrich Heine boulevard and Rhine’s promenade – host over 60 events ranging from experimental music, literature readings and dance performances to choir and orchestra concerts. Düsseldorf's Old Town is otherwise known as “the longest bar in the world” due to its collection of nearly 300 bars and clubs, but surely guests will also be interested to visit Schlossturm, a thirteenth century ducal castle now housing the Maritime Museum, and Basilica St. Lambertus, a fourteenth century Romanesque building with a Gothic tabernacle and a tall, twisted spire, where lie the bones of St. Apollinaris, the patron saint of Düsseldorf.
