Description

In May, come to the Douro wine region and take part in one of the world’s most beautiful races! Starting at the lake formed by the dam of the Barragem de Bagaúste in the municipality of Armamar and ending in the Avenida do Douro in Peso da Régua, this half marathon covers a distance of roughly 21 kilometres along the banks of the River Douro, passing through some truly breathtaking countryside. This sports event has gradually earned a firm reputation both nationally and internationally and brings together thousands of competitors from all kinds of different countries. Besides the half marathon, there will be other events designed to make your stay in the region an unforgettable experience, such as concerts, exhibitions or special wine tasting sessions, all taking place in what is the world’s oldest demarcated wine region, classified by UNESCO as World Heritage
