Help the rowdy and brackish pirates win an epic battle against the forces of the City of Lake Charles and make the mayor walk the plank! Built around the legacy of notorious pirate Jean Lafitte, who is said to have buried his treasure in Contraband Bayou, Lake Charles, the festival celebrates the Cajun and buccaneer heritage of Louisiana. Started in 1958 as a one day event with a boat parade, water ski show, and boat race, Contraband Days is now a two week long festival ranked as amongst the Top 100 Events in North American by the American Bus Association. Featuring more than 100 events, the festival commences with the storming of the city by pirates and hoisting of the ‘Jolly Roger’ flag. The festival also features parades, a carnival midway, live entertainment on three stages, a sailing regatta, concerts, beach games, speedboat races, bed races, bathtub races, crawfish races and other exciting activities. Bring your kids along, and have fun together during the family, alcohol free night. Finally, one of the focal points of the festival, a dazzling pyrotechnic display, lights up the skies above Louisiana!
