Canadian Tulip Festival
From: 2014.05.03 To: 2014.05.12
The Canadian Tulip Festival has got to be one of the most beautiful and impressive events of the year. The origins of this festival take us back to 1945, when Dutch Princess Juliana presented Ottawa with a gift of 100,000 tulip bulbs in order to express her gratitude to the city for providing the exiled royal family with a safe home as well as the overall the impact that Canada had in the liberation of the Netherlands during World War II. Although tulip festivals are organized in many other countries of the world, the Canadian one beats all the records. Visitors come from all over the globe to spend a couple of days in this flower-heaven. The event also features hundreds of live performances as well as a range of food options. Queen Juliana and her daughter, Princess Margriet, have returned to this festival multiple times along with hundreds of politicians, outstanding individuals and members of royal families. Ottawa is now officially the tulip capital of North America. This flower is a symbol of peace and friendship. Over 500,000 people attend the display of over 1 million tulips annually! You have never seen anything like this before!
