Bobsleigh and Skeleton European and World Championship
From: 2014.01.17 To: 2014.01.23
The Olympic sports of Bobsledding and Skeleton Sledding originated on the Olympia Bob Run in St. Moritz/Celerina. In the late 19th century a group of British Tourists in St. Moritz began passing the winter days by charging through the town streets on converted toboggans. The competitions got more and more popular and in 1904 The world's first bobsled and skeleton sled track was built connecting St. Moritz and Celerina. Today the track is the last surviving natural-ice run in the world and it hosts the Bobsleigh and Skeleton European and World Championships. Racers hurl themselves down the track at speeds of 130 km/h with just a small piece of plastic separating them from the rock hard ice. It is a thrilling sport where hundreds of a second separate victory from defeat.
