No Christmas lit street can come close to rivaling the splendor of Berlin during the Festival of Lights. The city's top sights glow gold, blue, red, green and yellow under the floodlights and fireworks that transform the city during this annual event. The organizers say they're intending to draw attention to Berlin's history and beauty during the increasingly dark days of autumn. They do a pretty good job, too, while lights make up the bulk of the event, there is also a Light Marathon as well as "light-seeing tours" hosted by local companies, as well as Blue Night Parties and Sunflower Days for those who like to stay up late and get up early, respectively. Whether you've been before or never once, seeing the likes of the Brandenburg Gate, Alexander Platz's TV tower and the Dom Aquaree will be momentarily mesmerizing under the unique lightshow of this festival.
