BBC Proms Concerts
From: 2013.07.13 To: 2013.09.08
The self-proclaimed World's Greatest Classical Music Festival, BBC Proms offers world-class concerts at prices anyone can afford. The tradition began in 1895 with a simple goal; make classical music accessible to a wider audience offering more popular programs, adopting a less formal promenade arrangement, and keeping ticket prices low. The Proms format means you can leave your tuxedo and fancy clothes at home. Historically, concert-goers who would promenade around the venue, a tradition upheld today with over 1,000 standing room tickets for each concert. Cushioned chairs are available in the balcony, but the real experience is found in this classical music version of a mosh-pit. The event takes place annually at the Royal Albert Hall from mid-July to mid-September. During the season, there is at least one Prom concert every day at the Royal Albert Hall, plus the Proms Plus series incorporating over seventy events - talks, films, family events and more. On the final night Proms spills out into the nearby parks for Proms in the Park.
