Description

In Lille on Bastille Day, there's a military parade along the Boulevard de la Liberte and of course a massive display of fireworks taking place on Champ de Mars. The best viewing of the visual display comes from the banks of the river Deule so go early to get the best spot. Bastille Day is the French national holiday commemorating the storming of the Bastille on July 14, 1789, a pivotal event the anti-monarchy revolution. Celebrations and fireworks can be enjoyed throughout the country in large towns and small villages. Often celebrations also take place on the days before and after the main event on the 14th.
